We were at a friend's house this week looking at the stars since they live in the middle of the Nevada desert.....lots of big sky there. They pulled out their phone and let us use their
Google Sky Map app. (Make sure to watch the video.)
This is so awesome that I couldn't help but share.
We came home and loaded our Android phone with the app (free) and now we can use it by pointing it at the sky and it will identify anything that is up there. It even works during the daylight. This is going to be such a great addition to our astronomy studies this fall and winter.
Hope you get to try it soon.
wow now I want an Android phone...never thought I would want a phone that could do so much but this is really awesome.
ReplyDeleteToo bad it won't work on my current phone :/
Barb, that is so neat! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI use what looks like a similar app on my ipod touch - pUniverse - I love it and we had a great time at the beach recently finding planets and stars.
ReplyDeleteNeat! I hope to upgrade my phone next year and will have to get this (or something like it). It would be very handy out at the lake where we can actually see lots of stars!
