Garden Progress: June

We planted our garden at the beginning of May and these photos show what it looked like just three weeks ago. The above photo shows the beans just popping up out of the soil.

Here were the radishes three weeks ago.

My box three weeks ago.

My garden box now with the beans, peppers, tomatoes, radishes, carrots, marigolds, and lettuce all growing bigger by the day. We have even eaten some radishes and lettuce from the garden.

Yummy!

The hydrangeas are blooming!

The figs are growing plump on the tree and I am hoping the birds don't come and eat them all.

The Black-eyed Susans are starting to bloom.

These guys are in the sunflowers...they look like someone painted them with bright colors and stripes.

That is a quick walk through my garden this week. I enjoy the cool of the morning in my garden and with the Square Foot Gardening techniques I do not spend much time weeding but rather a little time watering and enjoying. :)

If you are interested in starting a nature study project in your garden, why not start with Outdoor Hour Challenge #12? Challenges 12 through 19 focus on garden plants and would provide an easy way to start your own summer gardening project.

  1. What a beautiful garden! I'm wondering what type of beetle you had in that last photo - do you know? They do look painted.

  2. I'm SO going to have to officially switch to doing square foot gardening. I've mostly just been too lazy to figure out precisely what I need to do. We're getting closer, though, with our garden at least in raised squares!

I just posted about my garden this week, but all my photos are flowers this time, not veggies.

  3. Love your garden. I have a hard time getting anything done in mine because there is so much to take pictures of. LOL I just posted a bit about my garden and about my rain barrel. I love you blog and visit often. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Mm, so sweet, those figs. I'm so jealous!

Your garden is coming along really nicely. Those radishes... Here on the East Coast everything is growing very slooowly: rain, rain, no sun at all.

Now that all the plants are in (well, most of them: what's the holdup with the broccoli!?) I need to sit and wait? Really? That means there's time for some Challenges?

  5. School for Us,
Not sure what kind of insect that is in the photo....I am not very good at identifying insects at all. I am working on it though.

    Jamie,
Square foot gardening is a great way to have any easy to care for garden. I love that I can spend a few minutes a day and have such great results.

    Kim,
